Dragons RFC hit the bullseye in preparation for the return to league action this week – thanks to a special visit from darts champion Gerwyn Price!
The Iceman - as he is known to his army of fans - dropped into the club’s Ystrad Mynach training base on Tuesday afternoon, ahead of the BKT United Rugby Championship clash with Connacht.
Former rugby ace Price – a frequent visitor to Rodney Parade - has taken the darts world by storm since quitting the oval ball game in 2014 and taking up a new sport professionally.
Price turned out as hooker for Neath and Cross Keys during his rugby days - as well as a short stint with Glasgow Warriors as injury cover.
And he showed he has lost none of his sporting prowess in both sports as he faced off against the Men of Gwent on the oche and training field.
Price – who famously won the World Championship in 2021 – thrilled the playing squad and backroom team as he played darts with the team champion Joe Westwood.
Incredibly, he narrowly missed out on a nine-dart finish to the delight of the players as he won in some style.
The 37-year-old – who recently revealed he would play for his local club Bedwellty RFC when his darts schedule allows – then took part in training under the watchful eye of Head Coach Dai Flanagan.
A huge thank you to Gezzy for visiting the squad! Keep your eyes peeled for a two-part Dragons TV special next week as we show you his visit to the Dragons.
