Dragons Under-18s produced another impressive home show as they swept to a 29-18 bonus point win over Scarlets Under-18s in the Regional Age Grade Championship at Ystrad Mynach.
Just four days after blitzing RGC to secure maximum points, the young Dragons were back on home soil and once again shone with a mature show.
Dragons made a dream start after five minutes with a driving maul brought down just short before a dart down the blindside saw back row Dan Wall crash over.
The home side looked a threat out wide through wings Ioan Duggan and Harry Rees-Weldon while a well drilled pack kept Scarlets hemmed in for the opening 15 minutes.
The away side, though, did hit back on 17 minutes from a first meaningful attack as wing Matthew Williams went over out wide.
A second home score came courtesy of full back Harri Ford, who hit a great and dived over, with captain Jack Woods adding the extras.
However, Scarlets levelled before the break with a strong driving maul rewarded with a penalty try as it came down illegally. Dan Wall was sent to the sin bin with the teams locked at 12-12 at break.
Dragons lit up the opening moments of the second half with a superb break from hooker Tomoya Adachi stopped just short before Ryan Jones powered his way over from the next phase.
An intercept from Duggan, who raced home from 50 metres, sent Dragons clear only for a charged down chip to allow the visitors to go wide and send replacement Will Thomas in to cut the lead to 26-17.
A tense final period saw Dragons threaten a breakaway score down the left flank before player-of-the-match Jack Woods took the heat out the game with a well struck penalty three minutes from time to wrap up the win.
