Prop Rhodri Jones is set to hand Dragons RFC a fitness boost ahead of the league clash with Glasgow Warriors, Head Coach Dai Flanagan has revealed.
Wales international front row Jones has been out of action since December with a calf injury.
The 31-year-old is now back in the mix as the Men of Gwent prepare to face Warriors in the BKT United Rugby Championship at Rodney Parade on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
“Rhodri is back in the mix and that’s great news for us and him,” said Flanagan.
“He’d have liked to have been back sooner, but he is ready now and available for us this weekend.
“We also have a lot of fresh players ready to go who have been knocking on my door the last few weeks.
“People like Jack Dixon, Sio Tomkinson, JJ Hanrahan and Sam Davies want to go so let’s see what they can do if selected this week.”
Meanwhile, Flanagan has revealed he does not expect Wales front row Leon Brown to feature after linking up with the international set-up.
Brown – who impressed off the bench in the narrow European defeat to Emirates Lions at Ystrad Mynach – has joined up with Wales this week and is not expected to be released.
“Leon hasn’t trained with us this week. Unless there are changes, he won’t be around,” said Flanagan.
“If I’m Warren Gatland and I’ve seen Leon perform like he did last weekend, then I wouldn’t want to release him.
“He’s got a big job to do for our country now and I’m sure he’ll do it fantastically well.
Flanagan has also confirmed that lock Joe Davies and back row Ross Moriarty will miss game with Glasgow after suffering knocks against Emirates Lions.
