Dragons are pleased to support the ‘Tackling Gender-Based Violence’ campaign that is being run by our hosts this weekend – the HollywoodBets Sharks – as part of the club’s 16 Days of Activism initiative.
Sharks are taking a stand against the global crisis that is Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through the campaign – and we are pleased to stand beside them.
For every tackle the Sharks make over the next three games, money will be raised through a ‘tackle pledge’ and donated to a non-profit organisation that assists women and children who have been victims of GBV.
The three games will be:
- HOLLYWOODBETS SHARKS V DRAGON RFC (25TH NOV)
- VODACOM BULLS V HOLLYWOODBETS SHARKS (2ND DEC)
- HOLLYWOODBETS SHARKS V SECTION PALOISE (9TH DEC)
Sharks CEO Dr Eduard Coetzee said: “The recent statistics around Gender Based Violence in our country and province is extremely alarming. Now more than ever we need to act.
“When we come together as a collective magic happens and that united spirit shone bright through the civil unrest and floods that we experienced in the last two years.
“We call on fans both nationally and internationally to take a stand with us in fighting Gender-Based Violence. Whether it be through spreading this message, donating funds or items that can assist those affected by Gender- Based Violence, any involvement and support is welcomed.”
Sharks are asking fans to make a ‘tackle pledge’ and stand against the abuse of women and children. Tackle Pledge tiers starts as little as R10.00 per tackle.
Ahead of the game between Dragons and Sharks this weekend, donation points will also be set up at the Sharks Ticket Office where donations will be compensated with free tickets to home games within this period.
