Centre Aneurin Owen wants Dragons to use the BKT United Rugby Championship clash with Ospreys to kickstart the season – as the team look to put recent home defeats behind them.
The Men of Gwent finish a busy period on home soil with a clash against the Ospreys on Saturday evening (kick-off 5.15pm).
Owen – who made his first start in 20 months against Leinster and scored a second half try – is determined to use the game as a platform for success.
And revealed how the squad would be straight back to work this week and leave no stone unturned to secure a crucial home win.
“It’s a short turnaround, we are straight back in on Monday to review and we have got to take the lessons quickly,” he said.
“We have got to be harsh on each other as a group, which I feel we are doing, prep well, and understanding where we are losing these games.
“Ospreys at home, we can’t wait, and we have got to look for a win.
“I felt we put Leinster under pressure, but the difference was they were so clinical and took opportunities in the 22. When we had a couple, we didn’t capitalise on it,” he added.
“It’s small margins. Before and after half-time we concede with a tap and go and then a breakaway try - that is when the game starts to get away from you.
“Leinster are one of the best teams in Europe. When you play them, it is the small margins they nail, and they make the difference. We didn’t take ours.”
Reflecting on his own performance after so long out of the starting line-up after a succession of unfortunate injuries, Owen added: “I want to be in the team and playing well. That is my focus.
“We are four losses now which is not good enough. I want to be successful with this club as I am from the region.
“We’ve got to get better, review games and why we are not winning.
“We all want success but at the moment we are not falling the right side of results and that has to change.”
