Captain Rhodri Williams dedicated the derby win over Ospreys to the fans and revelled in a team performance as he admitted: ‘We played our own way’.
Dragons returned to winning ways on home soil with an impressive 20-5 success in the BKT United Rugby Championship.
And skipper Williams was delighted by the way the team had played without added pressure and looked to express themselves.
“The fans deserve that,” smiled Williams. “We played our own way and threw it about, with some boys really standing up.
“Cai (Evans) was outstanding, and Rio (Dyer) just showed what he can do.
“Reedy (Will Reed) bossed it and the forwards really stood up for us up front to give us that platform. It was a great team performance.
“We spoke all week about playing confident, being ourselves, and not worrying too much about the result,” he added.
“Put a good performance in and the result takes care of itself. We showed that tonight.
“You can’t shy away from results; they haven’t been right. We’ve lost our last four with performances we weren’t happy with.
“But we didn’t want to pile on extra pressure and think ‘we’ve got to win’.
“We stripped it back, back to performance, and the result is there to see tonight.”
