Scrum half Lewis Jones will miss the start of the new BKT United Rugby Championship season after suffering a facial injury in the pre-season victory over Ospreys.
Jones – who has made 26 appearances for the Men of Gwent over two seasons – was forced off in the second half of the friendly at Rodney Parade.
It has now been confirmed that the 30-year-old has sustained a fractured cheekbone and will spend a spell on the sidelines.
Backs Coach Matt O’Brien said: “Lewis suffered a nasty facial injury in the friendly with Ospreys and will miss a minimum of six weeks.
“It’s a real shame for him but we’ll make sure he recovers, is involved off the field and that he comes back strongly.”
Everyone at Dragons RFC sends our best wishes to Lewis and we look forward to his return in the coming months.
