EBM Club of the Month Award from ParalympicsGB

Dragons RFC have been crowned ‘Club of the Month’ by ParalympicsGB’s Every Body Moves powered by Toyota programme.

The award celebrates the club’s incredible work in creating and supporting a wide range of inclusive and adaptive ways for the disabled community to participate in the sport and engage with the club.

This echoing Every Body Moves programme goals of championing inclusion and empowering the disabled community to be more physically active in a way that suits the individual.

“As a club we are really proud of our community inclusion and social impact and this award is fantastic recognition of our family of provisions. There is a place for everyone at Dragons RFC and this award is shared by all those that take part, alongside our partners, staff and wider Dragons Family," said Mike Sage, Community Manager at Dragons RFC.

“Winning this award is deserved recognition for the work of the Dragons RFC and the range of opportunities and pathways they have developed that allow disabled people in Gwent a genuine choice of physical activity. It highlights the benefits of the inclusive sport programme delivered by the Dragons RFC and the range of opportunities provided by insport clubs across Wales,” added Steve McGrath, Regional Partnership Senior Officer Gwent at Disability Sport Wales.

Dragons every expanding range of sessions include walking, wheelchair and VI adaptions of the game amongst others, alongside community and social impact programmes including Sporting Memories, Phoenix team and their adoption of ‘Jersey For All’ approach.

All contributing the club’s goal of no barriers to people becoming part of the #DragonsFamily.

“The welcoming and supportive community atmosphere at Dragons totally blew us away. Participation in every form is celebrated and the whole team authentically live their values of one Dragons family. We’re incredibly proud to present them with this award and recognise their outstanding contributions to making physical activity for every body," said Baden Knifton, Parasport Engagement Officer at ParalympicsGB.
