Fly half ace Will Reed admits the players are ‘absolutely buzzing’ to return to Rodney Parade when they face Ospreys in pre-season on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
Reed – who is closing in on a century of points for the Men of Gwent – is one of the 31-men squad named for the season opener on home soil.
After a lengthy pre-season, due to the Rugby World Cup in France, the 21-year-old is keen to get to playing.
And he has also spoken about his hopes for the new campaign as the Dragons Academy graduate looks to continue to learn the lessons of recent seasons.
“We’re absolutely buzzing to get back out there,” he smiled.
“I’m speaking on behalf of everyone when I say we can't wait. It's been long enough, and we've all worked extremely hard.
“I'm excited about the season ahead,” he added. “I’m still young but do feel part of the senior squad now.
“My first season playing was kind of my breakthrough year and I feel that last year was a tough season, but a lot of tough lessons were learnt. I took a lot of experience from that.
“This season I’m just looking to just build on that, learning from the people around me and above me. That's where my head's at is going into this season."
