Dragons legend Jack Dixon has today announced his retirement from professional rugby with immediate effect.
The 29-year-old made 172 appearances for the Men of Gwent over 13 seasons, scoring 12 tries along the way. He currently stands sixth in the club’s all-time appearance list.
A product of the club’s Academy system, Dixon has written himself into folklore at Rodney Parade ever since his senior debut in October 2011.
The powerful centre became the youngest player to make a Welsh regional appearance when he came off the bench in the LV= Cup win away at Wasps, aged just 16 years 313 days.
Newbridge-born Dixon hit a century of appearances for the club in December 2018 when he faced Northampton Saints in Europe.
His final appearance came against Leinster in November, and he will now hang up his boots to pursue opportunities outside of the sport.

“To play for one club as successfully as Jack has for such a length of time is an outstanding achievement. He’s been an incredible professional, a true fans’ favourite, who never once took a backwards step on the field.
“Away from the action, Jack has also contributed so much. He has been a superb role model for our young aspiring players, someone who leads by example and sets the highest of standards. He finishes with an impressive legacy.
“Jack will part of the fabric of our club and along with his family, Lauren, Alvey and Gracie, will always be warmly welcomed back at Rodney Parade.”
Dragons are pleased to announce the club has agreed a testimonial event for Jack with full details to be announced later in the year.

“Like all fans we will miss him as a player, and we wish him and his young family the very best in the next chapter of their lives together. They will always be warmly welcomed at Rodney Parade.”
