Dragons nominated for WSA Sport Award

11/04/2024

Dragons RFC have been nominated in the Welsh Sports Association (WSA) Sports Industry Awards 2024 for the club’s Eco Dragons campaign.

The WSA is hosting the second edition of the event for the sport and leisure sector in Wales. In total, the WSA had 88 submissions across our eight award categories – an increase in the number of applications from the inaugural WSA Sports Industry Awards of 2023 – demonstrating the event’s importance to the sector.

Dragons were shortlisted alongside Cymru Football Foundation and Wales Golf in the Best Sustainability Initiative - sponsored by Sport:80 – for the Eco Dragons campaign, that has seen us strive to improve our sustainability, carbon footprint and drive positive change.

WSA CEO, Andrew Howard, commented: “We are delighted and inspired to have received such a fantastic response to hosting the second edition of the WSA Sports Industry Awards.

“We are thrilled to have had such an array of strong submissions, which demonstrates the outstanding work that the sport and leisure sector in Wales is delivering to make Wales a better place by delivering on Welsh Government’s wellbeing goals.

“The judging panel worked long and hard to determine shortlists of just three submissions per award category, and we can’t wait to celebrate the work of all of these organisations and the eventual winners in June.

“The WSA would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone who took the time to apply for the Awards. Most might have missed out on shortlists, but the phenomenal work delivered by our membership – often behind the scenes across sport and leisure – has not gone unnoticed, and we look forward to sharing all of these successes with influential stakeholders at Sport Wales and within Welsh Government. Pob lwc i bawb!”
