Dyer & Waino score in Six Nations thriller

03/02/2024

Dragons RFC duo Rio Dyer and Aaron Wainwright both scored as a stunning second-half Welsh fightback just failed to stop Scotland from claiming their first win in Cardiff in 22 years as they picked up a 27-26 victory in the opening round of the Guinness Six Nations.

After a dominant first half, Scotland led 27-0 before momentum shifted in favour of the youthful Welsh side, who thrilled the packed Principality Stadium with a comeback that fell only one point short.

Tries from James Botham, Dyer, Wainwright and debutant Alex Mann put Wales within touching distance of pulling off one of the greatest fightbacks in Six Nations history.

Wainwright was later named man-of-the-match after a stunning individual show.

Club team-mates Leon Brown and Elliot Dee also featured for Wales in a truly memorable game in Cardiff.

Wales are next in action when they face England at Twickenham next Saturday (kick-off 4.45pm).
