Head Coach Dai Flanagan has urged his Dragons to ‘be better again’ when they face Zebre Parma in a crunch BKT United Rugby Championship clash at Rodney Parade on Good Friday (kick-off 7.35pm).
The Men of Gwent won plaudits for the manner they went toe-to-toe with high flying Vodacom Bulls last time out on home soil.
However, Flanagan insists his team need to go up another level for Friday’s showdown at the foot of the league table as they face a second game in six days.
“We need to be more accurate because Zebre are a good team and will cause us different challenges to the Bulls,” said Flanagan, whose team will be out to break a five-game losing run.
“We can’t rest, if we play exactly like we did against the Bulls then we probably lose, so we need to be better again.
“We’ve got to get our bodies right and we won’t really look too much at Zebre, we want to work hard on ourselves.”
The Sharks’ win against Ulster on Saturday meant that the Dragons moved to bottom spot.
But Flanagan was refusing to be downbeat and instead wants his team to embrace the battle on Friday under the lights.
“It’s not pretty but we’ve sat down there all season,” said Flanagan.
“We missed two massive opportunities to win against Edinburgh and Cardiff at the start of the season, we knew that would bite us in the backside.
“We’ve now got a big game on Friday night and we need to be ready.”
