New signing Chris Hollis is determined to go ‘full throttle’ to prove himself at Dragons RFC.
Hollis made the move to Rodney Parade from Friday night’s visitors on a short-term deal as he bds to secure a longer stay with Dai Flanagan’s men.
The 25-year-old from Tarkastad gets an immediate chance to make an impression as he is named on the wing for the BKT United Rugby Championship clash against his countrymen.
But the big wing insists making a big impact for his new club is all about proving himself right and not disproving others.
“It’s an extremely special game first up,” he admitted.
“I didn't think when the season started that my first game this season would be against Stormers. But that's the special thing about rugby.
“I’ve thought about what this game means and, for me, it's not about trying to prove them wrong, or revenge or anything like that. It’s more a case of proving myself right.
“I know what type of player I am. I know what I can do. I play for my family, but I also want to prove Dai (Flanagan) and the rest of the management right for picking me and for backing me.
“It’s more about proving myself right and everyone around me right, rather than proving anyone wrong. But obviously if all goes well in the process, I will hopefully prove them wrong in any case.
“It’s initially just a two-month deal, for these next three games of the season. An opportunity to express myself and hopefully bring some pride within the jersey. To go full throttle.”
