Fly half Lloyd Evans has spoken about his excitement about testing himself in the BKT United Rugby Championship this season – and believes he can grow into his role with more ‘time in the saddle’.
The 28-year-old moved to Rodney Parade in the summer after over a decade with Gloucester and has started the opening two games of the season.
Evans will be aiming to take the ten jersey again on Saturday evening when Hollywoodbets Sharks arrive in Newport (kick-off 5.15pm).
“It’s been about getting time in the saddle and integrating into the team for me,” he stated.
“In this competition you are travelling to teams all over the place and lots of different styles.
“The Ospreys game and this game were completely different, different tempo, but it is exciting for me facing those different challenges.
“I feel like we are building positively, and we have a big home game now next week against the Sharks and we must target that. We need to go again.”
Reflecting on the defeat to Leinster last time out, Evans added: “It’s a tough one. Proud of the effort for 50 or 60 minutes, matched them physically and were in the game, but it tailed off towards the end.
“There are positives, but it is a tough one to take when you look at the score.”
