Dragons RFC today officially confirm that Ben Carter and Angus O’Brien will lead the club this coming season after being named co-captains at the Men of Gwent.
Carter and O’Brien combine for the second successive season after taking the roles last season in the BKT United Rugby Championship and EPCR Challenge Cup.
Wales international Carter, 24, has been a revelation for the Men of Gwent since his debut in November 2020. The homegrown ace has made 66 appearances for the club over five seasons. He has 14 caps for Wales and was part of the recent touring party to Japan.
O’Brien, 30, is in his second spell with the Men of Gwent and has made 106 club appearances. The Caerleon-born star has been a key figure at Dragons RFC over seven seasons, bringing a wealth of experience, leadership, and versatility to the squad.
Head Coach Filo Tiatia said: “I’m delighted to confirm that Ben and Angus will continue to lead us into the new season.
“Both did an excellent job last season, and we want that continuity, shared experience and leadership group to continue to develop.
“Ben and Angus players are unique individuals who lead in different ways and styles. But we believe they have the right balance, with how they work together, and are two men who can really take this club forward.”
