Second row Cerrig Smith captains Dragons Under-18s as they take on Ospreys Under-18s in the first round of this year’s WRU Regional Age Grade Championships.
Sunday’s game kicks off at 5:00pm at CCB Centre of Sporting Excellence, Ystrad Mynach and is the first of four group stage fixtures with away trips to Rygbi Gogledd Cymru and Cardiff either side of a home match against Scarlets on January 26.
With the prospect of semi-finals and finals on February 16th and 23 respectively, each point will be vital as our young Dragons prepare for the future.
Our young Dragons trained this week in club shirts in preparation of their match against Ospreys, with shirts from Abertillery, Caldicot, Pontypool United, Senghenydd, Cwmbran, Risca, Ebbw Vale, Penallta and Abercarn amongst others.
For this Sunday’s game, Risca RFC’s Tiann Hall lines up in the middle of a Cwmbran RFC sandwich with Regan Jones and Max Woodward in the front row, with fellow Crows player Elliot Beavan at lock along with Abercarn's Smith.
Another Cwmbran RFC product, Tiehi Chatham is at eight with Pontypool United flankers Luke Daniel and Harri Jacob making up the back row.
Carter Pritchard from Caerphilly RFC and Morgan Cusak of Pontypool are at half back with Cwmbran’s David Petrescu and another United player, Morgan Carter, in the centres.
In the back three are Blackwood’s Rhys Cole, Noah Morgan of Caerphilly on the wings with Cwmbran’s Harry Dawes at full-back.
The U18s Pontypool United bomb squad are ready for action from the bench with Chester Creel, Lewys Robinson-Blanche and Scott Crewe for the front row along with clubmate Jake Shepard at lock.
Caldicot’s Benson Ngoshi makes up the forward replacements while United scrum-half Jake Jenkins will look to make an impact along with Senghenydd RFC pair Will Ford and Ryley Fussell.
