Wainwright Starts In Key European Clash

12/01/2025

Dragons RFC and Wales back rower Aaron Wainwright will start at eight in a late change to our starting XV for our European Challenge Cup game against Section Paloise this afternoon.

Wainwright replaces fellow Wales international Shane Lewis-Hughes with the flanker dropping out of the 23 due to illness.

The change also sees Taine Basham switching from the base of the scrum to openside flanker with George Young moving to six, Dan Lydiate keeps his place in the 20 shirt.

Elsewhere there are no other changes to the 23 in a side which is a mix of experience and youth, with Joe Davies making his 129th appearance for the club alongside Barny Langton-Cryer on his first start.

Also, there is a first appearance of the season for centre Harri Ackerman fresh from his hattrick performance for Newport at Llandovery last weekend.

Joining Ackerman on the comeback trail is Elliot Dee who makes his first start of the season, starting alongside Argentine international Rodrigo Martinez and Chris Coleman.
