Wales U20s looking for double success

15/01/2025

After last weekend’s Wales U20s versus Welsh Academies match featured 12 Dragons Academy players, this week sees another strong influence by the Men of Gwent.

The game is the final preparation for Wales U20s before the Six Nations with a tough away trip to France to start the competition.

Ryan Jones and Nick Thomas join the Under 20s side as two of 11 players given an opportunity between the two squads.

Thomas lines up in the second row, behind Dragons Academy tighthead Owain James with Jones joining Evan Minto in the back row. Minto is one of only two survivors of the U20s side which won 42-21 at the Cardiff Arms Park last weekend.

Elsewhere, Harri Ford will look to add to his try from last week from fly-half with prop Morgan Williams and wing Harry Rees-Weldon both on the bench.

For the Academies side, Owen Conquer starts at eight to continue his all-Gwent battle with Minto at the base of the scrum, meanwhile Sam Potter starts at 15.

There are also places for Tomoya Adachi and Kobi Rees on the bench as the Academies side look for revenge following last weekend’s defeat.
