Wilson pushing for opportunities

29/01/2025

Interim Head Coach Filo Tiatia said it was “awesome” to see Harry Wilson performing well off the bench against Munster last Saturday.

The Aussie-born centre came off the bench to score a try and set up another as Dragons rallied after a difficult first half at Rodney Parade.

Wilson signed for Dragons RFC from Australian Super Rugby side NSW Waratahs in the summer and came off the bench in our opening day win at home to Ospreys.

He former Australian Under 20s international has been nursing an injury since pre-season and it was good to see him in full flight against the Munstermen.

Wilson is part of a strong quartet of centres at the Dragons along with Saturday’s captain Aneurin Owen and Academy players Joe Westwood and Harri Ackerman.

“Harry has come over here from the Tahs and has had some groin issues since pre-season and has worked really hard to get his loading right,” said Tiatia.

“It was awesome to see him get a couple of line breaks, in the first one he managed to hold his feet and get the pass away [in the build-up to his try] and in the second one he put Dane in for five points.

“They were nice moments and he needs to take his opportunities while also impressing in training.

“Harry needs to keep improving on both sides of the ball, he had a good hit out and that was good to see.”
