Prop ace Chris Coleman is relishing the prospect of a ‘bouncing’ Rodney Parade as Dragons return home this Friday after a long spell of away fixtures, writes Josephine Snowden.
Unbeaten in their last five home games, the Men of Gwent will be aiming to continue that strong run in front of a boisterous home crowd as they face Vodacom Bulls in the BKT United Rugby Championship (kick-off 7.45pm).
Coleman said: “We’ve done well in Europe, but we park that now and we’re back into the league.
“We focus on the Bulls this Friday and hopefully get a good result in front of our home crowd, who’ve supported us home and away this year.
“The crowd help us massively when we’re back at Rodney Parade and hopefully it will be bouncing again on Friday.”
Looking ahead to the Vodacom Bulls, Coleman is relishing the test added: “If you want to try and get to the best of your ability you’ve got to play against the best - it’s something I look forward to doing.”
Dragons head into the fixture with huge momentum after two big wins against Stade Francais Paria and Zebre Parma in Europe.
Reflecting on the recent run, Coleman said: “It was a really good experience, it was my first experience with European knockout rugby, so the last two weeks have been a very enjoyable.
“Last week I think we showed good character again, there were some peaks and troughs in the game, but we managed to come out on top.”
As for his own future, Coleman has spoken about how he is feeling after penning a new contract with the home club.
“It’s massive,” he stated. “This is my hometown club, I’ve been here since under 16s, and obviously coming to training and playing with my best mates is something I love doing - I’m now looking forward to the next couple of years."
