Wing David Richards admitted he was just happy to be the man to ensure the crucial away victory - as his injury time winning try snatched a crucial win on the road.
Richards dived to the corner with the last play to spark wild celebrations from the Men of Gwent as they secured a first win away from Rodney Parade in the BKT United Rugby Championship since 2022.
“We had spoken all week about building into this game and the elusive away win in the league,” admitted the wide man.
“It’s been a few years since we’ve won away in the league so it’s jubilation that we got there in the end.
“It was after the 80th minute and I was lucky enough to be on the end of the final score.
“We’ve shown we are capable of performances to beat teams,” he added. “It’s all about putting them together, that consistency and backing up wins.
“We’ve had a good run in Europe and it’s finding that form in the league.
“We’ve had some tough periods in the league, but we have Edinburgh and Scarlets to come now and want to finish strong.”
Next up for Dragons is Montpellier in the EPCR Challenge Cup semi-finals next weekend and Richards acknowledged it is a game that the squad were all relishing.
“It’s knockout rugby, what you dream of when you’re a young rugby player,” he smiled.
“Knockout rugby in the south of France – it doesn’t get much better than that!”
