Co-captain Angus O’Brien admitted he was ‘absolutely elated’ as Dragons edged Zebre 35-32 in a pulsating EPCR Challenge Cup quarter final in Parma.
O’Brien kicked 15 points to add to tries from Harrison Keddie (2), Fine Inisi and Elliot Dee as the Men of Gwent stormed Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi on a memorable night in Parma.
"I'm just absolutely elated, it means so much to us as players, the club and everyone involved,” he said.
"It was important we backed up last week to show that it wasn't a one-off.
"It wasn't perfect by any means, but it's knockout rugby.
“I'm really proud with how we came out in that second half, tidied up a few things that we spoke about in the changing rooms.
"To come away with the victory, we are absolutely elated."
Reflecting on the game, he added: “Our penalty count in the first half needs to be tidied up, we can’t keep giving teams easy ins,” he added.
“But we have shown what we can do, both sides of the ball, when we have territory and possession and put teams under pressure.
“When we got in the 22 tonight we came away with points and that is something massive that we can build on.
“If we tidy up the discipline and play rugby in their half, we can be clinical.
“I am so proud of where we have come this season, the growth we are making, and we have a semi-final to look forward to now.
