Defeat for Wales in Allianz Stadium opener

07/02/2026

Wales endured a heavy 48-7 defeat against England at Allianz Stadium in the opening round of the Guinness men’s Six Nations.

England winger Henry Arundell dashed over for a first half hat-trick as Wales struggled to get a foothold in the game.

A lack of discipline saw Steve Tandy’s side receive four yellow cards in the encounter as England made their superior numbers count to score further tries through Ben Earl, Tom Roebuck and Tommy Freeman in addition to a penalty try.

Wales head coach Steve Tandy said he was ‘bitterly disappointed’ with the outcome with all eyes now set on next Sunday’s clash against France at Principality Stadium.

Dragons RFC back row Aaron Wainwright started the game in the English capital while team-mate Ben Carter was a second half replacement.
