SRC Set For Gwent Derby Semi-Final

01/05/2026

Gwent is gripped by semi-final fever this Sunday.

While Dragons face Montpellier in the European Challenge Cup semi-final, Ebbw Vale and Newport are in the penultimate stage of Super Rygbi Cymru.

The two Gwent sides meet once again, having faced off in last year’s final with the Black and Ambers taking the win on that occasion.

Ebbw once again boast home advantage, hosting at the CINER GLASS Community Stadium with kick off set for 4:45pm.

For the Steelmen, Dragons’ Owen Conquer starts at eight, having made his return from injury in last weekend’s quarter final.

Meanwhile, there are five Dragons within the Black and Ambers’ ranks, with Joe Westwood, Harri Ackerman and Jac Lloyd in the starting XV, with Cerrig Smith and Brogan Leary amongst the replacements.

Newport certainly have the bragging rights, having won last season’s final, March’s cup semi-final along with both league games during the regular season.

Last time the two sides met, Newport won 44-17 at Ebbw Vale, taking the Challenge Shield in the process and putting them within touching distance of an historic treble.
