Senior Coach Dale MacLeod praised the ‘execution’ of the Dragons as they eased past Hartpury 81-12 in a 13-try home show.
Newcomers Anzelo Tu’itavuki and Ere Enari scored first tries at Rodney Parade while Jac Lloyd, David Richards, Barny Langton-Cryer, Rhodri Williams, Levi Douglas, Elliot Dee and Brogan Leary (2) also scored.
It was a positive afternoon for Filo Tiatia’s men against English Championship opposition as the squad got valuable game time as the countdown to the new BKT United Rugby Championship continues.
“It was good to see a lot of things that we have worked on play out on the field,” said MacLeod.
“It was also good to get a lot of boys on the field, give them a run and create some competition.
“There will be a couple of boys with some niggles, but I hope everyone has come through all right for next week. We have a pretty fit and healthy squad to be fair.
“It will be a step up against Scarlets, but we can only play the opposition in front of us and Hartpury provided us with a lot of good pictures.
“I was really impressed with how we went about our business and executed, but we know it will be a different level next week.”
Meanwhile, MacLeod confirmed that back row Carwyn Tuipulotu was leaving the club after a short training spell with Dragons and guest appearance against Hartpury.
“Carwyn has been in training with us after coming back from France and not yet having a club,” he stated.
“We have got him in, given him a run, and today was about giving him some game time so he can build up fitness and show he is ready.
“He will now move on with our best wishes and hopefully this sets him up for the future.”
