Dragons U18s lose out to Ospreys U18s
Newport Gwent Dragons U18s hosted the Ospreys U18s at Ystrad Mynach, Wednesday 26th November, KO 19:15.
The hard-hitting Ospreys U18s team opened the scoring with a converted try after 14 minutes on the clock. In quick succession of the visitors first try Charlie Davies of the Ospreys’ crossed the whitewash and Phil Jones added the extras, to extend their lead.
Finally the Ospreys U18s gave away a penalty, in range of the posts, and a chance for the Dragons U18s to add their first set of points to the scoreboard. Fly-half Arwel Robson nailed the kick adding three crucial points to the scoreboard for the home team.
Unfortunately for the Dragons U18s, the visitors weren’t finished with scoring points there as Llyr Davies and Phil Jones both scored converted tries before the half time whistle was blown. This ended a tough first half for the Dragons as they trailed behind 28-3.
The West Walians came out into the second half fighting as wing Keelan Giles scored a try which Phil Jones converted pushing the Ospreys U18s further into the lead after the 50 minute marker.
Finally in the 59th minute replacement Ben Watts crossed the white wash for the Dragons U18s. Unfortunately this wasn’t enough to take the win for the youngsters as this was the end of the scoring for both sides; the final scores ended on a 35-8 win for the Ospreys.
