Cardiff Blues U18s v Dragons U18s Match Report
Dragons future stars were triumphant in their win against the Blues and have kicked off the year with a fantastic 33-16 win.
The Dragons U18s side, who were captained by Bryce Morgan, began the game well as fly-half Arwel Robson opened the scoring with a successful penalty kick. In quick succession the Blues responded with their own penalty kick. The Blues went on to give away another penalty in the opening quarter, with Robson extending the Dragons lead to 6-3. The home side once again replying with their own successful penalty kick evening the scores up to 6-6.
The Men of Gwent however weren’t to be outshone as winger George Gasson sped over the white wash to score the first try of the evening with Robson converting the try. Next up it was Ellis Shipp who found space and made it over the try line with Robson once again adding the extras.
Hot on the Dragons tails the home side scored their first try of the evening with fly-half Callum Hall converting. But it was the visitors who managed to extend their lead as Lloyd Lewis crossed the try line before half time. It was the Blues U18s which ended the first half with a penalty kick from Callam Hall ending the first 40mins on 25-16 to the Dragons.
It was the visiting side that came out fighting in the second half as Arwel Robson slotted over a penalty kick, to be followed by George Gasson crossing the white wash for a second time that evening, ending the Dragons first game of 2015 with a win of 33-16.
