Dragons supporters will get to see the bearded prowess of their favourite players next month as the Men of Gwent follow the growing “Movember” tradition of growing facial hair for charity.
To help officially launch the Welsh Rugby Players’ Association’s Benevolent Trust, the Dragons players have joined the Welsh Rugby Players Association in supporing the Ray Gravell Trust for the month of November to launch ‘Grow a Grav’, a month dedicated to celebrating the late Ray Gravell’s legendary beard.
Ray Gravell was a true Welsh rugby legend, who sadly passed away in October 2007, aged 56. A former
Llanelli, Wales and British Lions rugby player, Grav played during the most successful period in Welsh rugby's history, when he became known for his trademark beard and his powerful charges from midfield. His fame became even greater after he retired from playing in 1985 and embarked on an acting and broadcasting career which made him one of the best known faces and voices in the country.
During the month of November, Grav will not only be remembered for his achievements on and off the field but for his very distinguished beard. Grav was an inspiration to so many and a passionate Welshman and rugby advocate, this is therefore a very fitting campaign.
We are encouraging businesses to get involved whether it is by purely alerting staff to this campaign, holding your own Grow a Grav competition or helping to support it by match funding any money raised by your team.
There are even rugby related prizes for the best ‘Gravs’.
o 1st Prize – Signed Welsh Jersey
o 2nd Prize – Regional jersey of your choice
o 3rd Prize – 2x Regional tickets of your choice (excludes Magners league semi-finals and
finals)
o Corporate prize – A unique ODDGODS Grav print signed by players of the Welsh rugby
team
