The course which was led by Mr Mark Mayberry (Extended Scope Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Sonographer), was highly practical, interspersed with short demonstrations and consisted of lectures on the main core areas scanned. Mr Mayberry was able to demonstrate how to use the Ultrasound scanning system through using Newport Gwent Dragons players such as centre Pat Leach.
The ultrasound helps to improve the quality of orthopaedic referrals, as well as enable rapid initiation of treatment for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. It aids diagnosis and patient education whilst allowing ultrasound guided injections to be performed in a clinic or out-patients scenario.
