Two local schools Pentrepoeth Primary and Ysgol y Castell also played their part in this project. The iBeacons will trigger notifications on phones and iPads as visitors move around the stadium where the pupils’ videos and presentations can be seen.
Pupils from Ysgol y Castell wrote questions and conducted a Facetime interview on their iPad with Dragons players Tavis Knoyle and Nic Cudd. The iBeacon digital tour will be in both English and Welsh language. All activities completed by the pupils will cover Digital Competence Framework skills which pupils now need in schools.
The pupils from Pentrepoeth Primary School wrote fantastic open-ended questions and conducted high-quality interviews with Newport Gwent Dragons player Geraint Rhys Jones using the Green Screen technology on the iPad.
Both Mike Sage and Matthew Williams from Newport Gwent Dragons Community Department helped Value Added Education and the pupils when starting this innovative project. The pupils were also given free tickets for their whole class for a Newport Gwent Dragons game kindly donated by Tata Steel.
There will be opportunities for all schools to become involved in this exciting project which helps raise standards in a highly motivating way with the children. For further information please do not hesitate to get in touch: martin@valueaddededucation.solutions
