Future Dragons players and their families will be able to benefit from new support and protection, thanks to a new partnership between the region and Rugbyshield.
The sponsorship will see the Rugbyshield brand emblazoned on the back of the Dragons Academy and age grade teams playing jerseys, in addition to advertising at Rodney Parade and Dragons Business Club match day hospitality, whilst the service providers will also help the Dragons with business networking events and a range of activities to help save money and increase revenue.
Dragons Head of Commercial Jon Westwood said, "We are delighted to be welcoming the team at Rugbyshield into the growing stable of Dragons Commercial partners.
“Working closely with Kevin Buchler, Jonathan Woods and the Rugbyshield team over the past few months has provided us with a level of expertise that has not only identified areas of the business where we can improve the offering and support to our playing or coaching staff, but additionally make significant financial savings and generate additional income for grass roots rugby. "
The partnership with Rugbyshield will deliver support for Dragons players, staff and Academy/age grade players in many forms, including opportunities with the award-winning Vitality Life & Private Medical cover, encouraging personnel to take responsibility for their own long-term health habits and lifestyle, with use of technology such as the Apple Watch Series 4.
Significantly, the Rugbyshield team have also agreed to provide these opportunities wider, helping Dragons deliver on their aspiration to have a range of 'affinity' benefits to the clubs and players within our region. As such, a number of these rugby specific policies and services will be made available to our region's clubs and players, with potential financial savings also being supplemented by an increase in quality of coverage, 20% cashback offers to the clubs, plus discount vouchers for the Dragons rugby store.
"Valued partnerships such as these play a key role in our vision for Dragons Rugby, where we hope to engage and support the game across our region wherever possible, utilising our commercial partnerships to drive growth and benefits across the game," added Jon. " Once again we'd like to thank the Rugbyshield team for the support and look forward to working closely with them over the coming seasons."
Jonathan Woods, MD Rugbyshield, said: "We are excited to be launching such a wide reaching and community based partnership with Dragons Rugby, and are confident that we can truly drive improvements in support, whilst driving significant financial savings across both the Dragons and the community clubs in the region.
“By sponsoring the playing kit of the highly successful Dragons Academy and Age Grade teams we are also wanting to ensure that we support the exciting and ambitious future of Dragons Rugby, whilst providing the players and their families with access to our highly regarded Insurance policies. Our policies are all designed to protect those involved in rugby not just when on the pitch, but in all walks of life.
"We'd like to thank the Dragons for the opportunity, and very much look forward to working closely with them to help support both their professional entity and the game across their entire region."
