The Dragons Ultimate XV backline is beginning to take shape with the half backs decided and the first winger now chosen! Next up is to see who will be selected as inside centre in our Ultimate XV feature – in association with doopoll.
The votes were cast and all-time record try scorer Aled Brew came out on top to earn his spot on the wing in the Dragons Rugby Ultimate XV – but who will join him and be the inside centre in the Ultimate Dragons backline?
Today we have selected five stars to pick for the inside centre spot.

Andy Marinos (2003-2004) 26 appearances
Andy Marinos is a former Welsh international earning 8 caps between 2002-2003. The centre spent 5 years in Newport from 1999-2004, playing for Newport RFC before his impressive solo season with the Dragons where he made 26 appearances. Marinos returned to South Africa and is currently the Chief Executive of the southern hemisphere governing body SANZAAR
Ashley Smith (2005-2015) 161 appearances
Dragons academy product Smith spent a decade with the Dragons between 2005-2015 making 161 appearances in the process. The centre earned international honours for Wales u16s, 18s, 19s and 20s and is a former Wales u20’s captain. Smith was forced to retire in 2015 due to recurring concussion problems.
Jack Dixon (2011-present) 122 appearances
Newbridge-born Dixon was the youngest player to make a Welsh regional appearance when he came off the bench against the Wasps in 2011 aged just 16 years and 313 days. Dixon has amassed 122 appearances for Dragons since his debut nine years ago and earned international honours for Wales u20s. Still only 25 years of age, Dixon has plenty of rugby left in a Dragons shirt.
Paul Emerick (2006-2008) 43 appearances
American international Emerick joined the Dragons from Overmach Parma in 2006 and spent two seasons at Rodney Parade before re-joining Overmach Parma in 2008. The 40 year-old made 43 appearances during his spell in Gwent and earned international honours with the USA making 53 appearances in nine years. Emerick is currently the skills and defence coach for Houston SaberCats.
Rhodri Gomer-Davies (2007-2011) 58 appearances
Carmarthen born Gomer-Davies signed for Dragons in 2007 and went on to achieve 58 appearances in his four seasons at the region. He previously played for the Northampton Saints and joined the Scarlets following his Dragons departure in 2011. The centre was forced to retire following the 2011/2012 season due to a severe knee injury. Gomer-Davies has gone on to work in television and the media.
