Half century for Rosser at Glasgow

04/12/2020

Wing Jared Rosser will make his 50th appearance for Dragons and lock Ben Carter will make his full league debut when they face Glasgow Warriors in a rearranged Guinness PRO14 fixture on Saturday (kick-off 7.15pm).

Rosser, who lines up on the wing at Scotstoun Stadium to hit his milestone, is one of six changes made by Director of Dragons Rugby, Dean Ryan.

Dragons Academy product Carter is handed his first league start with the Wales Under-20s ace lining up alongside Matthew Screech in the second row.

A new-look front row sees hooker Ellis Shipp make his first start of the season alongside tighthead Aaron Jarvis.

Taine Basham is called up to wear the number seven jersey. Harrison Keddie moves across the back row to blindside flanker.

The final change sees centre Jack Dixon named in the back line alongside Jamie Roberts to form a powerful midfield combo as Dragons look to build on the victory over Benetton Rugby in Italy.

Prop Chris Coleman and back row Huw Taylor are named among the replacements with Wales international centre Nick Tompkins also selected.

“I was pleased with the display in Italy,” said Ryan, reflecting on last weekend’s victory at Stadio Comunale di Monigo.

“It was a controlled performance, especially after we had to adapt after a couple of injuries early on.

“Our ability to make amendments on the field is getting better and now we will have to do that again this week in Glasgow.

“We are playing a side that is very challenging around phase play, are innovative around how they start the game and who will want to play at a fast pace on a plastic pitch,” he added.

“This will be a different challenge and we’ve got to work out how we can influence and control elements of trying to win a game again. We are looking forward to getting going again.”
