Boss Dean Ryan praised the assured debut performance of full back Ioan Davies in the derby clash with Cardiff Blues.
Wales Under-20s ace Davies is on loan from Cardiff but became Dragon No.304 in the clash against his parent region at the Arms Park.
Davies could be set for more action in the Guinness PRO14 Rainbow Cup clash with Ospreys at Rodney Parade on Sunday (kick-off 1pm) with Ryan vowing to again look to get the right balance between youth and experience.
“I thought Ioan did well. Let’s not forget that’s his first game for the Dragons and first senior game for a while,” said the Director of Dragons Rugby.
“He looked the part. He nearly got a try in the corner and he will grow in confidence from that experience.
“We’re starting to take Rio (Dyer) and Aneurin (Owen) for granted but they were great too.
“I also really wanted to get Chris Coleman and Dan Babos on at the end to experience what ten minutes with a point between the sides looks like.
“That’s important for us. We could have stayed senior to try and get something, but when are they ever going to experience being a point down and asking themselves what are they going to do?
“Those are valuable moments that we have set ourselves to create this month.”
