Back row Aaron Wainwright wants Dragons to strive for a complete derby day performance when they face Scarlets at Rodney Parade today (kick-off 3pm).
Dragons secured a 38-27 win over Scarlets at Parc y Scarlets in the United Rugby Championship last weekend.
However, despite the result, boss Dean Ryan insisted there was still more to come from the Men of Gwent.
And it is a view echoed by Wales international Wainwright after a season of some frustration on the field for Dragons.
“That’s been the frustrating thing for a couple of games this season,” admitted Wainwright. “We have shown glimpses of what we can do but the 80-minute performance hasn’t been there.
“Even though we got the win last week, it was still nice to see that improvements can be made and that’s what we’ve been working on this week. We’ll look to put that out there on the weekend.”
On a personal level, Wainwright looked back to his best in Llanelli with one huge run off the back of the scrum setting the platform for a try from back row team-mate Taine Basham.
“I can’t rest on the performance on the weekend too much,” he insisted.
“I know we played well and got the win but we got to the do the same again on Saturday and think it’s going to be a bigger challenge.
“They are coming to us off the back of a loss, so that’s what we are going to be focused on this week. Making sure we’re carrying on from how we played last week and improving on that.”
