Friday sees Dragons RFC take on Montpellier Hérault Rugby in the European Challenge Cup, in a match where European bragging rights aren’t the only matter on the agenda.
This game is special because, for the third time, Dragons RFC are teaming up with Pledgeball to invite our incredible fans to join us in protecting the places we play and love.
Once again, Dragons RFC continue to lead the way in sustainability and driving change following our recent national award for Sustainable Spectator Travel Event of the Year for 2024.
Friday’s event gives fans an opportunity to win a signed Dragons shirt and not just any old shirt but our green European kit!
Should you wish to enter make your pledge HERE.
Pledgeball is more than just a movement, it’s a platform that enables you the public as well as the club to make a real difference.
The fixture is an opportunity for all to come together and commit to reducing carbon emissions through simple, impactful actions.
Together, our impact is enormous - not just in reducing emissions but in showing businesses, clubs and governing bodies that we want them to take action.
For our last Pledgeball fixture we pledged to save 548,270 Kg CO2e and we want to keep the good times rolling.
How to Participate:
Getting involved is easy! Pledge to take specific actions that help reduce our collective carbon footprint. You have until midnight on matchday to make your pledge.
Carrying out each pledge contributes to a better place for us all to live and enters you into a prize draw to win a signed shirt! .
The Impact of Your Actions:
The potential for the Dragons fans to drive positive change is enormous.
Did you know: If every fan at a packed Rodney Parade used an e-bike instead of driving for journeys around the city, it equates to taking 619 cars off the road!
If every fan at a packed Rodney Parade cycled to work, it would equate to taking 828 cars off the road!
These choices reduce emissions and create a ripple effect, inspiring friends, family, and communities to make more sustainable decisions.
Katie Cross, CEO of Pledgeball, said, “We have been working with the Dragons for a while now, and the passion of the fans here is enormous and so strong!”
“Their commitment shows just how powerful our rugby community can be when it comes together for a shared cause.
“We are excited, and it's inspiring to see supporters driving change and showcasing the true spirit of rugby—unity and action.”
David Watts from Dragons RFC commercial team said; “Our fans have shown a fantastic commitment to Pledgeball over the last year and we’re looking forward to continue to drive our commitment forward.
“Pledge now to make a difference for Dragons RFC and the future."
