Stagecoach South Wales has continued its support of Dragons RFC by sponsorship the club’s hugely successful Girls Festival - as part of Dragons Cup Finals week.
Over 800 players and thousands of fans enjoyed Dragons Cup Finals week – dubbed the Roar to Rodney – as Gwent rugby was showcased in its finest at Rodney Parade.
One of the highlights of a busy week was the Girls Festival thanks to Stagecoach - a proud partner of the Dragons RFC since August 2023.
Since the beginning of the partnership Stagecoach has worked with the Dragons on several key initiatives and promotions, including the Girls Festival and #EcoDragons campaign.
The Girls Festival took place on Tuesday, April 23 on the main pitch at Rodney Parade, with a total of 200 girls from around 20 different schools taking part.
As one of the main sponsors for Dragons RFC, Stagecoach was delighted to be asked to attend the event to present the medals and trophies to those who took part in the day.
Christian Reed, Commercial Director for Stagecoach South Wales, said: “We’re proud to be known as one of the main sponsors for the Dragons.
“We have worked very closely with the Dragons since last August to promote the #EcoDragons campaign, where we promoted bus travel to either home games or community events at Rodney Parade.
“To be invited to play a part of the Dragons first ever Girls Festival as part of Dragons Cup Finals week was an honour and something we couldn’t pass up on, as Stagecoach is a diverse and inclusive company.”
David Watts, Commercial Executive at Dragons RFC, said: “Our thanks go to Stagecoach South Wales for their fantastic support throughout the 2023/24 season.
“The partnership has gone from strength to strength, with Stagecoach being a driving force behind our award-winning #EcoDragons campaign from the outset.
“It was fantastic that Christian and the team sponsored the Girls Festival and showed their support for our Dragons Community team and junior rugby in Gwent.
“The festival was a big success with girls getting to play at the home of Dragons RFC and make memories that we know will last a lifetime.
“We’re now excited to see our partnership with Stagecoach South Wales continue to grow in the years to come.”
