Head Coach Dai Flanagan has praised the early season performances of abrasive young hooker Brodie Coghlan – and believe the young tyro can go as far as he wants in the game.
Dragons Academy graduate Coghlan has shone in the early rounds of the season and in the narrow defeat to Hollywoodbets Sharks piled up an incredible 29 tackles in 80 action packed minutes.
The 23-year-old - who has now played 25 times for the Men of Gwent – has earned plaudits for the way he has tackled the new campaign.
And Flanagan believes he can continue to improve with his work ethic and desire to improve.
”I’ve been pleased by the progress of several of our youngsters in the opening weeks of the season and we’ve got high hopes for a lot of them,” said Flanagan.
“A lot of them had a lot of pain last year, even a year before, but it's now an opportunity to show that they've grown and developed.
“We are seeing that in Brodie. His physicality, his body transformation has been huge, how he's taken professional rugby a lot more serious and adapting to it.
“You can see suddenly he's doing more in his game than he's ever done.
“How far can he go? It’s a lot down to Brodie now, how serious he takes this profession,” he added.
“He's got a fantastic support network, an awesome family at home, a good Forwards Coach in Sam Hobbs and a fantastic leader on our staff in Filo Tiatia that he can learn off. The opportunity is there for Brodie to propel himself and he’s started to turn that curve now.”
