Head Coach Dai Flanagan conceded Dragons and conspired to their own downfall as they lost 31-21 to Benetton Rugby in the BKT United Rugby Championship at Rodney Parade.
Dragons scored three tries on home soil through Joe Westwood, Lloyd Evans, and Shane Lewis-Hughes.
But after a bright open half hour – when the Men of Gwent could have scored more - they were left playing catch up from costly errors in the second as the Italian secured the try bonus point win.
And Flanagan acknowledged his team now needed to 'turn the corner' to turn spirited home performances into victories.
“We played a good team who came with a plan that they executed well,” said Flanagan.
“Teams come here now and kick a lot more than we are previewing so we must find out why teams are playing that way and what they are seeing.
“To keep them at zero for 30 plus minutes was pleasing, but then two errors gave them ten points. That’s in our control and that is arguably the game.
“We watched them play the Sharks, a team with a fantastic scrum and lineout, and Benetton did a job on them. We knew that was coming.
“We had a game plan to try and ease that worry - we didn’t execute it.
“For all the progress, we want results. We want to turn the corner and win a lot more than we won last year. Currently we haven’t done that.
“Teams are contesting a lot more breakdowns and kicking an extreme amount against us,” he added.
“Don’t get me wrong, I like the kicking game, but that is a bitter pill to swallow tonight because we’ve been a good kicking team so far.”
