Dragons RFC are pleased to confirm that legendary back row Dan Lydiate has taken up a player coach role at the club.
The vastly experienced Wales and British & Irish Lions ace – who has played 95 times for the Men of Gwent over two spells – has taken up his position with immediate effect.
Lydiate, who returned to his first professional club during the summer of 2023, is closing in on a century of club appearances.
The 36-year-old now also has coaching duties that will see him work as a contact coach, where his undoubted expertise will develop his peers.
Head Coach Dai Flanagan said: “We’re pleased that Dan is taking on a new combined role and feel this is a natural progression for him.
“He’s a hugely influential individual, on and off the field, who is ready to take the next step in his career.
“Dan has relished coming home to Dragons and has made a big impact every time he has featured for us.
“He has a huge amount to offer and has been coaching the squad over the summer, but with current injuries he still has an important role as a player here.”
