Wing wonder Rio Dyer is relishing his return to Rodney Parade for the Welsh derby with Ospreys insisting: ‘It doesn’t get any better!”
The Men of Gwent launch the new BKT United Rugby Championship season on home soil on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
After four months way from Newport, Wales international wing Dyer is eager to get back out in front of the home faithful and show what the team have been working on his pre-season.
“A derby game at Rodney Parade - there's nothing better,” said the 24-year-old.
“It is a game I enjoy, but I do like them all. You get that feeling, the energy around it, and hopefully we can get the result.
“I’ve not played at Rodney Parade for a while, but we trained there in pre-season and it was nice to be back.
“Just being back in the home ground, that atmosphere, the feeling and just running back out on it. “
The vibe throughout preseason has been very good,” he added. “Everyone's positive, everyone's working hard and getting down to what we love doing, which is playing rugby. Hopefully we can show that on the pitch.
“It’s about expressing ourselves. There are so many talented players here and we just want to express that.
“We are good rugby players and I think in games where we've won, the fans have seen that, and they probably want to see more of that.
“We’re hoping to give back to them. We want people who come to watch see us trying to express ourselves and play some good rugby.
