Recycling information at Rodney Parade

03/09/2024

Supporters at Rodney Parade are being reminded to think before they bin it and help us correctly recycle waste at our home.

It is now law for all businesses, charities, and public sector organisations in Wales to sort their waste for recycling. This is an important step towards reaching zero waste, reducing our carbon emissions, and tackling the climate emergency.

Wales are already the best in the UK for domestic recycling and third best in the world – so how can you help at Rodney Parade?

Dragons RFC announced GD Environmental as the stadium’s official waste management service provider for the next three years. Based in Newport, GD Environmental is a total waste management company providing dry, liquid, and hazardous waste services to domestic and commercial customer across Wales and the Southwest.

GD Environmental is now providing Rodney Parade, Dragons RFC and Newport County and affiliated local clubs with a full range of waste and facilities management services.

Around the stadium we now have designated bins so we can separate materials for collection:

  • Food
  • Paper and card
  • Glass
  • Metal, plastic, and cartons.

Jon Raymond, Stadium Manager at Rodney Parade, said: “All the staff have been educated on new legislation to ensure we work as a team to ensure we are separating necessary materials to the very highest standard.

“Working alongside GD Environmental we can make a huge difference, and now we are encouraging all visitors to play their part and buy into the recycling programme we have here at the home of Dragons RFC and Newport County.

“We all want to pass on knowledge to the younger generation, as to why we need to recycle and the benefits of it, and this season is perfect time to make sure we are all doing what we can to take positive steps forward.”
