Head Coach Filo Tiatia has praised the immense way that Aneurin Owen’s leadership has grown this season – as the star centre pledged his future to the Men of Gwent.
Owen - who has played 64 games for his home club - has today put pen to paper on new terms to remain at Rodney Parade.
And Tiatia has spoken of his admiration for the midfielder who he named vice-captain earlier this season and who has led the team in recent games.
He said: “Aneurin is an extremely valuable member of our squad and someone whose leadership has grown immensely this season.
“Aneurin is a real servant to those around him and someone who leads by action with his behaviours.
“He is undoubtedly starting to really inspire the players around him with the way he performs as a young captain.
“Aneurin has been brought in as a vice-captain and is outstanding to work with, somebody who really wants to keep improving every day.
“I am looking forward to working with him both the rest of this season and he years ahead.”
