Dragons Academy second row Nick Thomas faces an extended period on the sidelines following surgery.
The 19-year-old suffered a left ankle injury while playing for Wales Under 20s against France.
Thomas made his Dragons debut in December’s European victory at Newcastle Falcons, earning a crucial turnover late on in the game. He was also a vital source of lineout ball for the Under-20s out in France before his injury in the first half.
Filo Tiatia, Head Coach at Dragons RFC, said: “We are pleased to report that Nick’s surgery was a success, and we now wish him well with his recovery.
“Nick has enjoyed a strong season for us, with a number of senior appearances and Under-20s representation, so we look forward to him building on that when he returns.”
Wales Under-20s Head Coach Richard Whiffin added: “Losing Nick is a huge blow to us, not only on the playing front, but he has developed into a valued leader within the group.
“We all wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch soon.”
