Dragons RFC’s youngest provision for children of nursery and pre-school age has been “an absolute hit with the children” according to one of the lucky nurseries to sign up to the activity.
Dragons Tales, a first for any Welsh professional club, aims to inspire children through interactive storytelling, building confidence and of course, having lots of fun!
Sunnybank nursery are Dragons' headline partner for the Newport area and the children have already experienced thw joy which Dragons Tales has to offer.
The interactive stories have the children listening, running, jumping, crawling, catching jumping, hopping, skipping, dodging, walking and side stepping, while improving their locomotive, listening and stability skills.
The experience is pure active, loud madness, but great fun.
“Steve Lewis [Dragons Education & Engagement Manager] has been incredible, captivating the children with his energy and enthusiasm while promoting physical activity in such a fun and engaging way,” said Lewis Coleman, Director of Education & Childcare at Sunnybank Nursery, Newport.
“These sessions have not only been enjoyable but also highlight the importance of fostering strong community links.
“Partnering with our local professional rugby team has allowed us to create meaningful experiences that inspire our children while strengthening ties with the wider community.

A block of sessions are six weeks with each individual session lasting 30 minutes.
Further skills are developed with stretching, stopping, bending, balance, turning, rolling and landing in order to improve their stability.
The children also get the chance to meet Dragons’ mascots, Rodney and Anwen, meanwhile all children and their families are invited to watch a Dragons game as our community guests as well.
