BUCS: Can Hartpury defend title at Rodney Parade?

10/03/2025

All-conquering Hartpury will be out to defend their Women's BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championship title as all eyes turn to Rodney Parade this April.

BUCS Super Rugby is the highest level of men’s and women’s university rugby and has been the breeding ground for some of the stars of our game.

Seven teams compete in the women’s competition and Hartpury were recently crowned BUCS Super Rugby league champions after narrowly edging out Exeter in the standings.

Attention now turns to the knock-out Milk Championship that starts with quarter-finals on Wednesday, March 19 - with the final two teams standing competing at the home of the Dragons on Wednesday, April 16.

Hartpury – whose famous alumni include Ellie Kildunne (Harlequins, England) and Emma Sing (Gloucester-Hartpury, England) – will undoubtedly be one of the teams again to beat after winning back-to-back league titles and three National Championships in a row.

Rodney Parade – and Wales itself - will host this season’s BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championship Finals at the iconic Rodney Parade.

Both the women’s and men’s finals will take place on an action-packed day of rugby. But who will take the glory on Welsh soil?

Will Roberts, BUCS CEO, commented, “We’re extremely excited to be taking the BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championship Finals to Rodney Parade. Thank you to Dragons RFC, Newport RFC, Newport County and the WRU for the opportunity to host the finals at an incredible stadium.

“And also thank you to AHDB for their ongoing support with the BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championship Finals. Their ongoing support for BUCS sport and BSR has ensured this season is the biggest and best we’ve ever had.

“The finals are always a fantastic occasion, and this year will be no different.”

The finals take place on Wednesday, April 16 and information on tickets is HERE
