Centre Aneurin Owen has been rewarded for an impressive season with the Men of Gwent by taking home the top honour at the club’s Awards Night at the Riverfront Theatre.
Owen - who has been vice-captain at the club this season and led the Dragons on numerous occasions – was named the Dragon Signs Tony Brown Player of the Season.
Wales international Aaron Wainwright was recognised by his peers as he was named the Bluetube Scaffolding Ed Jackson Players’ Player of the Season for the second successive season.
The other big winner on the night – where staff and players came together to reflect on the last 12 months - was Ryan Woodman, who was named the Interlec Young Player of the Season.
The Carlsberg Marstons Try of the Season – voted for by supporters - was claimed by Huw Anderson for his memorable long-range try against Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park in December.
Wales Under-20s back row Evan Minto was named the Molson Coors Academy Player of the Season and Gwalia Lightning ace Caitlin Lewis the South Wales Sports Grounds Women’s Player of the Season.
The Candleston Phil James Community Award was won by Ronnie Davies and Mike Weedall for their work supporting the Dragons Community team, while the club’s mixed ability team, the Dragons Allstars, won the GP Shipping Special Recognition Award.
The Floyd’s Turfcare Clubman of the Year award went to Rodney Parade employee Ashley Davies, who has spearheaded the expansion of several of the club’s Community provisions.
Club milestones and debuts were also recognised on the night while departing players were presented with framed jerseys as thanks for their efforts and impact at Dragons RFC.
