Hartpury University have celebrated a historic achievement after being crowned Women’s BUCS Super League Champions for the fourth consecutive year – and can now turn their attention to potential cup glory at Rodney Parade next month.
Hartpury secured the league title with a flawless, undefeated season. They won all 12 of their fixtures and claimed a bonus point in every match, finishing the season with a perfect 60 points from a possible 60.
They will now go for the double with the BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championship Finals next on the agenda this April at Rodney Parade.
Aside from Hartpury, who have a bye this round, last week saw Cardiff University pick up their first win of the season against Edinburgh while Brunel secured a victory over high flying Loughborough.
The race is between Loughborough, Exeter and Cardiff Met for second space with the teams separated by six points in the table.
Games in the final game week include Exeter versus Edinburgh, Brunel versus Cardiff, while Cardiff Met against Loughborough is the game to watch out for with both sides battling for second spot.
In the men’s tournament, the race for top is heating up with Loughborough and Bath both winning their games to keep them within one point of each other - with Hartpury, Cardiff Met and Nottingham picking up vital wins.
The battle for third is contested with five teams in the chase going into this week’s fixtures - Exeter, Durham, Nottingham, Hartpury and Cardiff Met.
Leeds Beckett, Cardiff University and Swansea remain near the foot of the table following all three teams losing in game week 16.
This week (Wednesday) the two games to keep an eye on include Exeter versus Hartpury and Cardiff Met versus Nottingham, with all teams looking to get some much-needed points on the board in the race for second.
