22/05/2026

Centre Aneurin Owen was a double winner and took home the top honour for a second successive season at the club’s Awards Night at Rodney Parade on Thursday evening.

Owen was named the Dragon Signs Tony Brown Player of the Season for a second season - becoming only the second player to win the award back-to-back after Joe Bearman who achieved the same feat in 2007/08 and 2008/09.

The 25-year-old – closing in on a century of appearances for the Men of Gwent - was also recognised by his peers as he was named the Bluetube Scaffolding Ed Jackson Players’ Player of the Season.

The other big winner on the night – where staff and players came together to reflect on the last 12 months - was Che Hope, who was named the GP Shipping Young Player of the Season.

The Au Vodka Try of the Season – voted for by supporters - was claimed by David Richards for his epic score and combination with Tinus de Beer at Virgin Media Park against Munster in January.

Back row Harry Beddall was named the Celtic Security Academy Player of the Season and Gwalia Lightning and Wales international Molly Reardon was named Kilted Dragon Distillery Women’s Player of the Season for a second time.

Angus O’Brien’s memorable kick against Lyon was crowed the Sytner BMW Newport Moment of the Season.

The iStadia Solutions Special Recognition Award was won by long-serving staff member Chris Thomas.

The N&D Catering Clubman of the Year award went to Academy Analyst Morgan Akrill for his outstanding work across the rugby department.

Club milestones and debuts were also recognised on the night while departing players were celebrated with framed jerseys as thanks for their efforts and impact at Dragons RFC.
